[Saba Sports News] According to American media reports, Liverpool owner Fenway Sports Group and AC Milan owner RedBird Capital are seriously considering acquiring the NBA’s Boston Celtics. However, due to the sale process being divided into two steps, 49% of the team’s shares won’t be sold until 2028. LeBron James, a minority shareholder in Fenway, could potentially become the owner of the Lakers’ arch-rival. Reports indicate that the Celtics have just hired JPMorgan’s BDT & MSD Partners to begin the sales process. Sources say that despite the team barely making any profit, the Celtics are still seeking a record $6 billion deal. Previously, Fenway, RedBird, and James were working on bringing a new team to Las Vegas, but if the focus shifts to the Celtics, they may abandon the Las Vegas project. It’s worth noting that Fenway already owns several teams, including the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Liverpool fans have generally not been very fond of Fenway due to their minimal investment in the club. How will the Reds’ fans feel about this acquisition?
