[Saba Sports News] Fernando Alonso and his girlfriend Melissa Jimenez’s first child, Jesús Alonso Jiménez, was born on March 26, the news confirmed by the BBC. Fans quickly sent their congratulations after the announcement.
The 44-year-old Alonso had no children previously due to focusing on his racing career, and this is his first time becoming a father. To be with Melissa for the birth, Alonso missed Thursday’s media day at the Japanese Grand Prix; third driver Jak Crawford took his place in Free Practice 1. Alonso arrived at Suzuka on Friday and began preparing for the remaining sessions.
Reports from outlets including Sky Italy first revealed Melissa’s pregnancy during the Qatar Grand Prix last November; her due date had been expected around the 2026 Australian Grand Prix. Since last November she has reduced public appearances as her due date approached. Melissa has three children from a prior marriage; this is her first child with Alonso.
The editor believes Alonso’s becoming a father further strengthens his public image as a mature, responsible figure both off and on the track—a major milestone in his life and career that aligns with his personal wishes and has received positive responses from his team and the public.
