[Saba Sports News] Fiorentina’s president, Rocco Commisso, expressed frustration in a recent interview with the media, stating his desire to renovate Fiorentina’s home stadium, Stadio Franchi. However, local authorities have blocked these efforts, citing concerns about potential losses if the stadium is handed over to private companies. Consequently, the renovation has been stalled. Comiseo emphasized the pressing need for renovation, highlighting the stadium’s aging equipment. Originally planned for February of this year, preparations for renovation were delayed, impacting the team’s ability to play home games. The stadium, which hosts Serie A team Fiorentina Football Club and was a venue for the 1990 World Cup, was expected to undergo renovation between 2024 and 2026. However, the future of the renovation remains uncertain. Stadio Franchi, initially named Stadio Municipal, was renamed in 1991 in honor of Temio Frankie, the former president of the Italian Football Association and UEFA.
