[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, the newly launched blue away jersey of the German national football team has achieved remarkable sales success. In the first few days after its release, demand even surpassed that for the away jersey from the 2024 European Championship. When explaining why blue was chosen for the away kit, Jürgen Rank, chief designer at Adidas, stated: “This shade draws inspiration from the early training wear of the German national team. Back in 1954, the training outfits worn by Sepp Herberger and Adi Dassler were navy blue. This colour continued throughout the 1950s and 1960s, and was also preserved through Franz Beckenbauer’s training jackets. In fact, Germany also wore blue jerseys in a friendly match ahead of the 1986 Mexico World Cup. When we were developing the design for 2026, we decided to adopt a colour that belongs to the German national team and is deeply rooted in its DNA.”
The editor believes that this blue jersey will be the last one designed by Adidas for the German national football team, as Nike will take over the kit supply for the German Football Association starting from 2027.
