[Saba Sports News] At the Paris Paralympics, India won five medals in badminton, including one gold, two silver, and two bronze, marking their best performance in Paralympic history. Yesterday, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) announced that it would award a total cash prize of 5 million rupees to medalists from the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Among them, gold medalists will receive 1.5 million rupees in cash, silver medalists will receive 1 million rupees, and bronze medalists will receive 750,000 rupees. At the Paris Olympics, Nitesh Kumar won the gold medal in men’s singles SL3 category; Thulasimathi Murugesan, Manisha Ramadass, and Nithya Sre Sivan made history as the first Indian female badminton players to win medals at the Paralympics. In this regard, Sanjay Mishra, Secretary General of the Indian Air Federation, stated that Indian para-badminton players have shown consistent performance on the world stage, and the cash rewards are just one recognition of their contribution to helping India win medals at the Paralympics.
