[Saba Sports News] The Italian Football Federation has officially repealed a bill that was aimed at opposing the European Super League. The bill, which was passed in May 2021, outlined certain actions that would lead to disqualification from domestic competitions for Italian clubs. These actions included participating in events organized by private associations not recognized by FIFA and UEFA, as well as participating in unauthorized friendly matches or tournaments. The Italian Football Association’s decision to repeal the bill is based on a ruling by the EU Court of Justice in December 2023, which stated that FIFA and UEFA were suspected of monopolizing European football and that their regulations violated EU antitrust laws. Consequently, the mention of “without FIFA authorization” in the May 2021 bill is now meaningless.
