[Saba Sports News] Ja Morant suffered an ankle injury during the Memphis Grizzlies’ play-in tournament matchup against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night at Chase Center in San Francisco.
The injury occurred in the third quarter with the Grizzlies trailing 82-78. Morant hit a baseline jumper but rolled his right ankle on the landing.
Though Quinten Post was called for a foul, allowing Morant to stay in briefly and sink the free throw, he headed to the bench shortly afterward due to the injury.
At the time, Morant had helped cut the Warriors’ lead to just one point, making the timing especially tough for Memphis. He later returned to the game with 9:26 remaining but was visibly limping.
Morant had tallied 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in 26 minutes before the injury. Both the Grizzlies and Warriors finished the regular season at 48-34, with Golden State earning home court as the 7-seed in the Western Conference.
