[Saba Sports News] India fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah could be rested for the third Test match of the series against England, scheduled to commence on February 15 in Rajkot.
As per a Cricbuzz report, the BCCI selectors and the Indian team management wants to manage Bumrah’s workload, giving him s much-deserved break from the Rajkot Test to ensure that he is up and running for the final fwo fixtures of the ongoing series.
Having bowled almost 58 overs in the series already, Bumrah has been India’s workhorse. After losing the first Test to England in Hyderabad, Bumrah ran riot in Vizag, taking nine wickets, including a six-for in the first innings. He was given the Player of the Match award as India won by 106 runs.
Mohammed Siraj, who was rested for the second game, could replace Bumrah.
The squad for the upcoming Tests is yet to be announced. The focus remains on Virat Kohli, who opted out of the first two matches, and is yet to make his availability status clear.
Mohammad Shami is already expected to be ruled out of the series because of an ankle injury.
While there is a little hope for Ravindra Jadeja to return at some point in the series, KL Rahul, who also injured himself in Hyderabad, is likely to make his comeback in Rajkot.
