[Saba Sports News] Jay-Z, a former part-owner of the Brooklyn Nets and a key figure in their move from New Jersey to Brooklyn, was recently asked to choose between the Knicks and the Nets for the upcoming season. Instead of picking sides, Jay-Z made it clear that he supports whichever team represents his city.
The Knicks are expected to contend for an NBA Championship next season, especially after acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Nets. The Knicks, who had an injury-plagued playoff run last season, believe Bridges will be an ideal complement to Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle. The trade for Bridges was significant, marking only the sixth deal between the two franchises and the first in nearly four decades.
Bridges, who averaged 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists last season on a rebuilding Nets team, is seen as a perfect fit for the Knicks’ roster as they aim for a deep playoff run. The Nets, on the other hand, are focusing on rebuilding for the future.
