[Saba Sports News] Kevin Durant was cleared to play in Sunday’s game against Serbia after missing all of Team USA’s training camp due to a calf injury. To say the two-time NBA Finals MVP looked fine would be an understatement.
Durant came off the bench in the first half and immediately caught fire, scoring 14 points on 5/5 shooting in his first 7 minutes, including 4/4 from three-point range. After a rest, he continued his hot streak, finishing the half with 19 points on a perfect 7/7 from the field and 5/5 from three-point range. Clearly, the calf injury was not affecting his performance.
Earlier in the week, a report suggested Durant might miss the game against Serbia, which seemed to irritate him. In hindsight, it’s likely because he was ready to play and considered the report nonsense.
