[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks are making strategic additions. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Knicks have signed forward Chuma Okeke, who spent the last four seasons with the Orlando Magic.
Okeke, a first-round pick in 2019 (No. 16 overall), had his best season in 2020-21, averaging 8.6 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25.0 minutes per game. Although his playing time has decreased, Okeke is known for his energy and ability as a 6-foot-7 wing and spot-up three-point shooter.
The Knicks, having recently re-signed frontcourt player Precious Achiuwa, might use Okeke as a backup 4 behind Julius Randle. Okeke, taller than Josh Hart (6-foot-4), should fit well in small-ball lineups. However, after losing center Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency, the Knicks may still seek another seven-footer, potentially via trade.
