[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks may be exploring a new role for Julius Randle.
In an interview with Steve Aschburner of NBA.com, head coach Tom Thibodeau revealed the team is considering giving Randle more minutes at center next season.
“We could see Julius more at the 5,” said Thibodeau. “Not for long stretches, but for 10 to 15 minutes, he could do it well and create offensive advantages.”
Randle, typically a power forward, is undersized for center at 6’8″, but his scoring, rebounding, and three-point shooting could be a fit.
With limited options at center following Isaiah Hartenstein’s departure, this could help the Knicks address their depth concerns.
