[Saba Sports News] Recently, Greg Maffei, the CEO of Liberty Media Group, the parent company of F1, publicly stated his intention to prevent Andretti from entering the sport. According to an interview with Mario Gabriele Andretti, the CEO of Andretti-Cadillac Racing Team, conducted by NBC, this news came to light. The incident occurred during a private breakfast reception at the Palm Club, where F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali asked Andretti about his recent visit to Washington. Andretti mentioned that he was invited by lawmakers to speak outside the Capitol, advocating for F1 to accept Andretti’s application to become the 11th team. Greg Maffei interrupted their conversation at this point and expressed his determination to prevent Michael Andretti, Mario’s son, from entering F1. Michael Andretti, the chairman and CEO of Andretti Global, is leading the bid to enter F1. After making his statement, Greg Maffei walked away and did not contact Andretti again. Both Greg Maffei and Liberty Media have declined to comment on the matter at present.
