[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Liverpool FC’s employee Christmas party held at the city’s cathedral was abruptly stopped after suspected drug containers were found in the restroom. On Thursday evening local time, the gathering of about 500 Liverpool employees ended early due to the discovery of some mini resealable bags typically used to hold illegal substances. An emergency medical incident prompted a search, which resulted in one staff member being taken to the hospital, but it was later determined that the hospitalization was unrelated to drug use. As a precaution, the club decided to shorten the party by about half an hour. A Liverpool spokesperson stated, “We do not condone or tolerate the use of illegal drugs in any of our venues or events. We thank the venue’s event team for their swift action and professional response to this unrelated medical emergency; the staff member is currently recovering well.” Liverpool rented the largest city cathedral in the UK for this event, with the club’s badge projected high on the church windows, bathing the hall in red light. The club also booked a band to perform at the party, but one performance ended early due to the church closing.
