[Saba Sports News] Lonnie Walker IV is being waived by the Boston Celtics, but he remains unfazed.
Signed by the Celtics in August on a one-year, non-guaranteed deal, the 25-year-old guard played in the preseason but is now being let go to maintain roster flexibility.
Keeping Walker would have cost Boston $11 million, factoring in his salary and luxury tax penalties.
According to Keith Smith, Walker will join the Celtics’ G League team if not picked up by another NBA team.
Reacting on Instagram, Walker shared a photo of a warrior with the caption “No risk. No story” and added, “Will always bet on myself… this gonna be one hell of a story.”
Walker, known for his four-year stint with the Spurs, also played for the Lakers and Nets, averaging 9.7 points in 17.4 minutes per game with Brooklyn last season.
