[Saba Sports News] The results of the 2024 Olympic badminton draw were recently announced, but it was surprising to discover that due to a low-level error in the calculation of Olympic points by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the French men’s doubles combination of Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar faced difficulties in regaining their qualifications for the Paris Olympics, which should have rightfully belonged to them. As a result, the men’s doubles combination increased from the original 16 pairs to 17 pairs, which was a surprising development for the outside world. In April of this year, the Olympic points of the French combination Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar and the Popov brothers were very close. Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar had been leading with a slight advantage, but when the final Olympic points ranking was announced, it was the Popov brothers who took the lead and qualified for the Olympics, depriving Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar of the chance to compete. Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar subsequently appealed to the BWF and sought help from the International Court of Arbitration for Sports. Finally, the court ruled that the BWF was at fault and ordered it to submit an exemption to the International Olympic Committee to recommend Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar’s Olympic qualification. This means that Lucas Corvee/Ronan Labar will participate in this year’s Olympics with a special wild card.
