[Saba Sports News] Recently, the Malaysian badminton association successfully extended its contract with the world-ranked third women’s doubles pair, Tan Pearly and Thinaah Muralitharan. This development has finally brought peace of mind to the Malaysian Badminton Association after earlier reports suggested they might switch to a free partnership outside the association. After a six-month negotiation, the two players have signed a contract with an annual salary of 1 million Malaysian Ringgit each. Although this is half of their initial target of 2 million per year, it still reflects recognition of their abilities. Additionally, the contract includes performance incentives that could boost their earnings if they perform well in key tournaments such as the Japan Open, China Open, and Paris World Championships. The editor believes that successfully retaining the world number three pair helps maintain the core competitiveness of the national team, preserving Malaysia’s position in the global women’s doubles scene and enhancing the overall strength and international influence of Malaysian badminton.
