[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United’s hierarchy still supports Ruben Amorim, but as the team’s recent results continue to decline, the players are losing confidence in his system. Following last Sunday’s 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City, Amorim insisted he would rather be sacked than change his football philosophy. Amorim still retains the support of the Manchester United board, but due to his refusal to compromise, he risks losing the support of parts of the dressing room. It is understood that some players have never adapted to the 3-4-2-1 formation introduced by Amorim. Manchester United had hoped to give Amorim a full pre-season to work with the team, backed by a £236 million investment in new signings suited to his system, to turn things around after the club endured its worst season in over half a century last term. However, Manchester United has had its worst league start in 33 years, taking only 4 points from the first four Premier League games, and was eliminated from the League Cup by fourth-tier strugglers Grimsby Town. Nearly 11 months after Amorim took charge, players are still struggling to adapt to his style, and even one of his believed staunchest allies, captain Bruno Fernandes, is said to be unhappy with being deployed in a deeper midfield role. Sources at Manchester United state it is wrong to say Amorim has lost the dressing room and insist he still has the support of a section of the squad.
