[Saba Sports News] McLaren Team’s impressive performance in the new season of F1 has placed them at the top of the leaderboard, yet they have decided to exit the Formula E project, announcing their intention to withdraw from FE at the end of the season. It was reported that McLaren chose to exit FE after the season to concentrate on preparing for the FIA WEC Hypercar class in 2027. McLaren Group believed that exiting Formula E would maximize opportunities for key market growth in the future and focus on the success of the WEC project. Media outlets generally believe that in the long term, the technological development direction and rule changes in Formula E might not align perfectly with McLaren’s technological research strategy. By exiting Formula E, McLaren can avoid excessive investment in mismatched technologies and instead channel resources into developing technologies related to WEC events, such as hybrid systems and aerodynamic kits, better addressing future endurance race challenges.
