The public defamation lawsuit, accompanied by a civil claim, was filed by Platini at the Paris Judicial Court at the end of November and was accepted on December 19. This legal action comes after he was acquitted in the “2 million Swiss franc” case last year. The legal route appears to provide Platini with an opportunity for “revenge,” having been found not guilty twice in preliminary and appellate proceedings related to this case, which is linked to the FIFA scandal. The former UEFA president was accused of fraud but was ultimately acquitted after the Swiss public prosecutor’s office abandoned its final appeal to the Federal Court of Lausanne at the end of August last year. Platini’s lawyers filed the “public defamation” lawsuit on November 28, involving four individuals, including former FIFA members, who made statements regarding the case in public.
