[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the investment group behind Paris Saint-Germain, is finalizing the acquisition of Malaga CF. The Bluejay Group owns 49% of Malaga, while Qatari Vice Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani owns 51% of the club. Sources reveal that QSI’s negotiations with Bluejay and Al-Thani are progressing smoothly, and they are close to finalizing a deal worth €100 million. QSI currently owns 87.5% of Paris Saint-Germain and 21.67% of Braga. As the sole shareholder, QSI will ultimately own 100% of Malaga. Malaga is currently ranked 15th in the Segunda División and has been under administrative management since 2019. Reports indicate that QSI sees huge potential in Malaga within a large market: it is Spain’s sixth-largest city and will host some matches of the 2030 World Cup. Additionally, Malaga has a history of being an excellent youth training ground for football. QSI has reportedly been negotiating the acquisition of Malaga for some time and hopes to use the club as a development pathway for young Paris Saint-Germain players, similar to the case with Braga.
