[Saba Sports News] Golden State Warriors rookie Quinten Post was a bit baffled on Tuesday when he got the halftime interview treatment—especially with Steph Curry putting on a show.
Curry lit up the first half against the Memphis Grizzlies, dropping 32 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and hitting 8 threes—clearly the headline act. So when Post, who had knocked down three threes off the bench, was chosen for the halftime spotlight, even he was confused.
“I dunno why I’m here. Steph got 40 points,” Post said candidly during the interview.
The interviewer replied with a smile: “’Cause you’re a rookie. We don’t make him stop.”
In other words, Post got the classic “rookie duties.” Plus, broadcast crews often look for fresh faces to spotlight—especially when the alternative is yet another Curry Q&A. With his hot shooting, Post made for a solid backup plan.
Still, when the final buzzer sounded, there was no doubt: the fans were there to see (and hear from) Steph.
