[Saba Sports News] Recently, Cagliari coach Claudio Ranieri announced his retirement from football after the conclusion of the season. The 72-year-old Ranieri, known for his tactical versatility, achieved a remarkable feat by leading Leicester City to win the Premier League championship. Throughout his career, he has taken charge of teams facing crises and joined mid-season. Ranieri began his coaching career with Cagliari in 1988 and has since managed several clubs, including Naples, Fiorentina, Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Parma, Juventus, Roma, Inter, Monaco, the Greek national team, Leicester City, Nantes, Fulham, Sampdoria, Dalian Asia, and Watford. Ranieri took over Cagliari midway through the 2022-23 season when the team was languishing in 14th place in Serie B. Eventually, Cagliari finished fifth with 15 wins, 15 draws, and 8 losses in 38 rounds. They went on to secure promotion by defeating Venezia, Parma, and Bari in the playoffs, marking their return to Serie A after a season in the lower division. In the current season, Ranieri guided Cagliari to secure their top-flight status one round before the end of the season.
