[Saba Sports News] Indian cricket star Ravindra Jadeja has commenced his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru following a hamstring injury that sidelined him from the second Test against England. The injury occurred on the fourth day of the first Test in Hyderabad. Washington Sundar and Saurabh Kumar have been brought into the squad as replacements.
In the first Test, Jadeja performed exceptionally, being India’s top scorer with 87 runs and taking five wickets, demonstrating his prowess as an all-rounder. His absence poses a significant challenge for the team in finding a suitable replacement. Jadeja updated his fans about his rehabilitation journey through an Instagram story, indicating he’ll be at the NCA for the upcoming days.

Jadeja’s performance has been remarkable since 2019, boasting the third-highest batting average for India in this period. He has amassed 1489 runs in 42 innings at an average of 42.54, including two centuries and 11 half-centuries. His bowling statistics are equally impressive, with him being the third-highest wicket-taker for India since 2019, claiming 90 wickets in 53 innings.
Additionally, KL Rahul is also out of the second Test due to a quadriceps issue. While Rahul may return later in the series, Jadeja’s comeback remains uncertain. India faces a challenging task in forming their team for the second Test starting on February 2 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, especially after their unexpected 28-run defeat in the first Test in Hyderabad.
The selection committee has included Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar as replacements for the upcoming match, with the team aiming for a strong performance to bounce back in the series.
