[Saba Sports News] According to F1 journalist Joe Saward, Red Bull Racing has made a $20 million offer to buy out Argentine young driver Franco Colapinto’s contract in hopes of securing him for 2025. Currently, Colapinto is under a multi-year contract with Williams F1 Team but will not be able to secure a race seat until 2027 due to existing contracts with Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz for the next two years. Joe Saward believes that while he cannot guarantee that $20 million is the buyout figure, it would be a worthwhile investment since Williams has promising reserve driver Luke Browning who will compete in F2 next year with Hitech. Earlier in mid-October, Red Bull team advisor Helmut Marko discussed Red Bull’s prospects for 2025 in an interview. Marko predicted that Dutch driver Max Verstappen would again win the Formula One drivers’ championship but that his teammate would change and no longer be Sergio Perez. Next year, Red Bull will have a junior joining who will race alongside Verstappen. It now seems that this person Marko referred to will be Colapinto.
