[Saba Sports News] Rishabh Pant was recently spotted with MS Dhoni at a party in Mumbai. Often seen in the company of the Chennai Super Kings captain, Pant is gearing up for a comeback to the Indian Premier League in 2024 as Delhi Capitals’ skipper, following a year’s break due to injuries. Dhoni, who retired from international play in 2019, has been a mentor to Pant, especially in leadership aspects.
Last year, Dhoni celebrated Christmas and New Year in Dubai with his family, where Pant joined them. Sakshi Dhoni shared moments from their gathering at Dubai’s Sushisamba restaurant. Meanwhile, Dhoni, despite a knee injury, led CSK to their fifth IPL victory last season and has been retained by the team for IPL 2024. He is currently recovering from surgery and has not started training yet.
Commentator Deep Dasgupta speculated on Pant potentially leading CSK in 2025, suggesting a close bond and mutual admiration between Dhoni and Pant. Dasgupta praised Pant’s aggressive and positive approach, aligning with Dhoni’s style, and indicated Pant as a likely successor for Dhoni at CSK.
“Don’t be surprised if they get Rishabh Pant by IPL 2025. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are very close. Obviously, Rishabh adores MS, and MS also likes him very much. They spend a lot of time together. Their connection and Rishabh’s thinking are very similar, considering he is very attacking and positive. He’s always talking about winning and what not,” Dasgupta shared.
