[Saba Sports News] The Sacramento Kings didn’t waste any time making a major front office move following their season-ending play-in loss on Wednesday night.
After falling 120-106 to the Dallas Mavericks at Golden 1 Center and missing the playoffs for the second straight year, the Kings announced they were parting ways with general manager and president of basketball operations Monte McNair.
The decision came shortly after the final buzzer.
McNair, who had held the role since the 2020-21 season, signed a multi-year extension in January 2023 and was named NBA Executive of the Year just a few months later. That same year, head coach Mike Brown also took home Coach of the Year honors—but he was fired in December, making McNair’s departure less shocking in hindsight.
The Kings reached the playoffs in 2023 but were eliminated in the first round by Golden State. In both 2024 and 2025, they failed to make it out of the play-in tournament.
