[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Saudi Arabia, as the sole bidder for the 2034 World Cup, may secure hosting rights not through a vote but by acclamation. On December 11, FIFA’s 211 members will hold an online meeting via Zoom to discuss matters related to the 2030 and 2034 World Cups. Reports suggest that there will certainly be no actual voting during this meeting. The hosts for the 2030 World Cup will be Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay each hosting a match. Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 2034 World Cup is expected to be confirmed by acclamation, marking the first time in nearly 60 years that World Cup hosting rights have been determined without competitors. According to the Saudi World Cup bidding committee, Saudi Arabia received a technical score of 419.8 out of a possible 500 points, the highest technical score in FIFA’s history. The timing of the World Cup has yet to be determined, but the heat and Ramadan will be major considerations. It will be interesting to see how fans feel about the World Cup being held in Saudi Arabia.
