[Saba Sports News] Recently, the badminton world rankings were updated. Shi Yuqi’s path to winning last week’s World Championships was a dramatic comeback story. This World Championships title is not only a personal breakthrough for Shi Yuqi but also a significant milestone for Chinese men’s singles badminton. On the BWF rankings, Shi Yuqi’s points have broken through the 110,000 mark, officially joining the “110,000 Points Club” alongside Kento Momota and Viktor Axelsen, becoming the third men’s singles player in badminton history to achieve this. Previously, Axelsen set a stunning record of 121,606 points in June 2022, far exceeding the 110,000 threshold, while Momota reached 111,118 points in 2019. It is worth noting that although legends like Lee Chong Wei and Chen Long once broke the 100,000-point mark, they never reached 110,000. Chinese Badminton Association President Zhang Jun expressed in a media interview: “Shi Yuqi has faced repeated doubts in major tournaments, but he has proven himself with practical actions. He is the pillar of our team events, and I am incredibly happy and proud that he has fulfilled his dream of winning the World Championships.”
