[Saba Sports News] Steph Curry could only watch in disbelief as the Golden State Warriors’ season came to a disappointing end — with him stuck on the bench in street clothes.
The Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs on Wednesday night, falling 121-110 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of their second-round series at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Minnesota controlled the game early, taking a double-digit lead in the second quarter and eventually stretching it to as much as 25 points.
Julius Randle led the way for the Timberwolves, dropping a game-high 29 points. One of the more deflating moments for Golden State came late in the first half when Randle, a 33.4% career shooter from deep, drained a long three to put Minnesota up by 11.
The TNT broadcast then cut to Curry on the sideline, blankly staring ahead and shaking his head — a reaction that quickly went viral.
Curry, who strained his hamstring in Game 1, missed the remainder of the series. Golden State won that first game, raising hope he could return by a potential Game 6, but the Warriors never made it that far, losing four straight to close out the series.
With their title hopes dashed, the Warriors head into an uncertain offseason. But with Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green all under contract, there may still be one more run left in this core.
