[Saba Sports News] The Indonesian badminton world champion Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, who has not been in the public eye for a while, shared updates about himself on social media. He traveled to Switzerland with his wife and child, drawing the attention of fans. Photos reveal that Sukamuljo has noticeably gained weight compared to over a year ago, while his wife has not only quickly regained her figure after childbirth but also looks even more radiant. This scene prompted many fans to leave positive comments.
Sukamuljo was dubbed “a once-in-twenty-years badminton prodigy” by Indonesian media when he debuted. His speed and feel on the court truly deserve this accolade, yet throughout his career, he has failed to enhance his backcourt attacking ability. His pursuit of a flashy but impractical playing style has hindered his progress. The men’s doubles pairing of Sukamuljo and Marcus F. Gideon is referred to as the “Little Yellow Men” by Chinese fans. They have swept various tournaments on the World Badminton Federation (BWF) circuit and dominated the men’s doubles world ranking for 214 consecutive weeks. However, Sukamuljo and Gideon have never managed to win a men’s doubles championship at a major event, lacking even a podium finish at the World Championships. Their only significant title is the gold medal from the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, which has somewhat diminished their historical standing.
Speaking of Sukamuljo’s wife, she is genuinely a wealthy heiress. Sukamuljo’s father-in-law is a media tycoon in Indonesia, and his family owns several television stations, magazines, and newspapers, as well as involvement in the entertainment industry. As early as 2016, Sukamuljo’s father-in-law appeared on Forbes’ list of Indonesia’s wealthy individuals.
