[Saba Sports News] The Oklahoma City Thunder evened the 2025 NBA Finals with a commanding 123-107 win over the Indiana Pacers in Game 2 on Sunday night.
They began to pull away late in the first quarter, sparked by Chet Holmgren’s personal 7-0 run that shifted the momentum firmly in OKC’s favor. That opened the door for Aaron Wiggins to take over in the second quarter, torching the Pacers’ defense as the Thunder built a lead that Indiana couldn’t recover from.
Holmgren, Wiggins, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander — who led the team with 38 points — will understandably grab the headlines, having dominated both ends of the floor and helping OKC build a 23-point lead by halftime.
But it was Alex Caruso, as usual, who brought the defensive intensity and veteran presence the Thunder needed to clamp down. Caruso guarded everyone from Tyrese Haliburton to Pascal Siakam to Andrew Nembhard, playing a crucial role in the win.
After the game, Holmgren was asked about Caruso’s impact — especially considering the 31-year-old is the team’s oldest player. Holmgren gave a hilarious and heartfelt response to what he saw as age-related slander.
“Don’t disrespect my GOAT like that, man,” Holmgren said with a grin. “He’s one of those guys who you know is going to bring it every single night whether he’s 22 or 30. Doesn’t matter. He’s going to bring it. As a collective, we feed off that. And his ability to process what’s happening and communicate it to everyone is so important. Hopefully, that never fades.”
Caruso continues to embody the traits of a winning NBA player, and the Thunder are clearly thrilled to have him as a tone-setter on and off the court.
After letting Game 1 slip away, Oklahoma City responded exactly how they needed to in Game 2 — jumping out to a huge lead and never letting up. The series now shifts to Indiana, where Game 3 will tip off at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday night at 8:30 PM EST.
