[Saba Sports News] According to British media, UEFA will conduct a strict review of the player swap deal between Chelsea and Aston Villa to ensure that transfer fees are not artificially inflated. In recent years, several Premier League clubs have carried out such high-value player swaps, with some rivals accusing the practice of inflating transfer revenues to meet financial sustainability rules. Earlier this month, UEFA had already reduced the value of at least one player transaction involving both Chelsea and Aston Villa. Chelsea reached a four-year settlement agreement with UEFA, while Aston Villa received a three-year settlement, as both clubs violated stricter financial regulations than those of the Premier League. It has been reported that UEFA will continue to review all such player swap deals, but due to the settlement agreements in place, it will impose stricter scrutiny on both clubs. After announcing heavy fines for Chelsea and Aston Villa this month, UEFA stated that it had reviewed “player swap transactions” and required specific financial adjustments from the clubs.
