[Saba Sports News] In an off-broadcast moment at the F1 Australian Grand Prix, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen nearly lost control as he entered the pit lane. A video of the tense moment surfaced on social media yesterday. At the time, Verstappen was in intense discussions with his team about whether to pit for new tires, while McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both ran off the track at turn 12. The situation became tense. Verstappen, who was in third place, decided to take a gamble, continuing with slick tires in hopes that the rain would subside. However, after two laps, he had to abandon the strategy and pit for intermediate tires. Verstappen finished second, just 0.895 seconds behind Norris. The video showed Verstappen’s RB21 car almost losing control twice as he entered the narrow pit lane. The first incident occurred when he pressed the accelerator, causing slight sliding; the second was a more noticeable moment of the car tipping over, but Verstappen managed to save both moments.
