[Saba Sports News] Stephen Curry has always expressed his desire to stay with the Golden State Warriors for his entire career. However, it’s fair to question if he would feel the same way if the Warriors were no longer competitive.
In an interview with Marc J. Spears of Andscape, Curry discussed his commitment to the Warriors. Spears referenced how Dirk Nowitzki and Kobe Bryant ended their careers on less competitive teams and asked Curry if he would be willing to do the same.
“It’s tough, right? I’ve always said I want to be a Warrior for life. At this stage in my career, I feel like that’s possible,” Curry said. “Being competitive doesn’t guarantee a championship. Winning is a priority, but it’s not guaranteed if you stay the course. You need to adapt and evolve with the league and its talented teams.
“If you’re a bottom feeder just to stay put, I’d struggle with that. But I don’t think that will be our reality.”
Curry, now 36, continues to excel in shooting. However, the team around him is changing. Klay Thompson left for the Dallas Mavericks, leaving Curry and Draymond Green as the last pieces of the championship core. Even with Thompson, the team barely made the play-in tournament.
The Warriors aim to remain competitive as long as possible. Curry is under contract for two more seasons, which coincides with coach Steve Kerr’s tenure. While 2026 may bring questions about the franchise’s direction, Curry is currently content with the team’s efforts.
