[Saba Sports News] Zimbabwe Cricket has unveiled its teams for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is starting January 6. The squads were announced on January 1, with Craig Ervine set to captain the ODI team and Sikandar Raza leading in the T20I format. Notably, Sean Williams will be absent due to a recent side injury, and Wessly Madhevere is excluded following an anti-doping rule violation.
Retaining their spots in the 50-over squad are Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Milton Shumba, and Tony Munyonga, who were part of the series against Ireland. Tapiwa Mufudza, the top wicket-taker in the Pro50 Championship 2023, receives his first call-up.
Walter Chawaguta steps in as interim coach, replacing Dave Houghton, who resigned following a challenging year that saw Zimbabwe fail to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023 and miss out on the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The ODIs are scheduled for January 6, 8, and 11, followed by the T20Is on January 14, 16, and 18.
