[Saba Sports News] Chance Comanche, center for the Stockton Kings, was arrested on an open murder charge related to the death of 23-year-old Marayna Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington. Comanche and his 19-year-old girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, were identified as suspects in Rodgers’ disappearance. Initially facing first-degree kidnapping charges, their charges were upgraded to open murder following the confirmation of Rodgers’ death.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released a statement on Sunday, indicating early evidence of foul play leading to Comanche and Harnden. Comanche was apprehended by FBI agents in Sacramento County, California, and is currently held at the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail eligibility. Harnden was arrested in Las Vegas and booked for kidnapping charges.
Rodgers was reported missing after a planned meeting with Harnden on December 5. Her remains were later discovered in a desert area in Henderson, Nevada, and were identified as hers by the Clark County Coroner.
Comanche, a 6’10” center and former player for the Arizona Wildcats, appeared in one NBA game with the Portland Trail Blazers last season. His team, the Stockton Kings, had a game against the G League Ignite in Henderson on the day of the alleged meeting.
