[Saba Sports News] Patrick Beverley, the Milwaukee Bucks guard, is making headlines off the court by hinting at a potential signing of his former teammate, Marcus Morris Sr., with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This news was teased on Beverley’s podcast’s X page, indicating Morris’s inclination towards the Timberwolves. However, Morris, a former lottery pick, has a few hurdles to clear before the move can be finalized. Following his trade from the Philadelphia 76ers to the San Antonio Spurs as part of a multi-team deal, Morris needs to negotiate a buyout, forfeit a portion of his $17.1 million contract for this season, and then clear waivers.
Beverley’s insights stem from his strong connections within the league, having played with Morris on the 76ers this season and the LA Clippers during the 2020-21 season, as well as his stint with the Timberwolves in the 2021-22 season. The Timberwolves, currently leading the West with a 36-16 record, could benefit from the addition of Morris.
Despite Morris’s recent underperformance, with a shooting percentage under 43% over the last two seasons and declining rebound numbers, his playoff experience and ability to add physicality and create shots could be valuable for the Timberwolves’ playoff aspirations. If Beverley’s prediction comes true, it would mark the second major NBA scoop he’s revealed in the past week.
