[Saba Sports News] Philadelphia radio host Howard Eskin has stirred controversy with his remarks about Joel Embiid, the star center of the 76ers. Eskin suggested that Embiid deliberately avoided playing in the Christmas Day game against the Miami Heat.
According to Eskin, Embiid had expressed a desire to spend Christmas morning at home and requested a private plane to fly out on the day of the game, instead of leaving with the team on Christmas Eve. Eskin also insinuated that Embiid’s ankle sprain, sustained in the first quarter against the Toronto Raptors, was not severe enough to prevent him from playing, as he completed the entire game.
Eskin went on to criticize Embiid for being self-serving, claiming he continued playing against the Raptors to maintain his 30-point game streak. Embiid has indeed been on an impressive run, scoring over 30 points and 10 rebounds in 13 consecutive games, including his performance against the Raptors.
However, it’s important to note that Eskin’s credibility has been questioned by the 76ers’ fanbase in the past, with accusations of fabricating stories. Therefore, his claims about Embiid’s intentions and the seriousness of his injury should be considered with caution.
