[Saba Sports News] At the recent F1 Monaco Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez encountered a car accident. On the first lap, Perez made an error on the climb and collided with another car at high speed. The collision resulted in a severe accident, causing significant damage to Perez’s car, except for its monocoque. Due to debris on the track and damaged guardrails, a red flag was issued, interrupting the race. Red Bull Racing will face losses of up to $3 million due to the car damage. In a subsequent media interview, Red Bull Racing executive Helmut Marko stated, “This incident will cost us approximately two to three million dollars, which poses a significant challenge considering the budget cap.” Despite the unfortunate car accident, fortunately, Perez did not sustain any serious injuries. The event organizers promptly implemented a comprehensive response plan. They conducted immediate inspections and repairs of the track facilities to ensure compliance with competition requirements and made adjustments to the race plan based on the accident and track cleaning progress, such as rescheduling the start time or modifying the number of laps.
