[Saba Sports News] The Denver Nuggets are reportedly close to securing one of their star players with a massive contract extension.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Nuggets plan to offer Jamal Murray a four-year, $209 million maximum contract extension, which Murray is expected to sign soon. Murray was set to make $36 million next season, the final year of his five-year extension signed in 2019.
Drafted 7th overall by the Nuggets in 2016, Murray tied a career high with 21.2 points per game this season and shot a career-best 42.5% from three-point range. Despite battling injuries, he averaged 26.1 points across 20 postseason games last year, helping the Nuggets win the NBA title.
With Nikola Jokic signed through the 2026-27 season, the Nuggets are positioned to contend for championships for several more years.
