[Saba Sports News] Jimmy Butler is increasingly likely to return to the Miami Heat next season.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Heat are not currently shopping Butler to other teams. Butler also plans to play out next season without signing an extension and will test the free agent market next summer.
Butler’s current contract presents challenges in trade talks, and the NBA landscape means he would likely need the Heat’s cooperation to join a contender, as few teams could accommodate his potential $50 million salary within their cap space.
Earlier in the offseason, there were indications the Heat might trade Butler to avoid losing him for nothing in free agency. However, the offseason developments have reduced the likelihood of Butler leaving without compensation.
Butler has a $52 million player option for 2025-26, which he may not exercise in favor of securing a long-term contract. While that deal might not be with the Heat, everyone appears content with the current situation for now.
