Despite being only 18 years old, Maza is already considered a rising star in German football. Leicester City, Brentford, Marseille and a number of Bundesliga clubs are interested in him.
So far this season, Maza has made 14 appearances, scoring four goals and one assist. He has a contract with Hertha Berlin until 2027, but there is awareness within the club that the youngster could leave next summer. Currently, his market valuation is around €8 million.
Atletico know that once a player like Mazza breaks out, their transfer fees and market competition will be very fierce, so the club must act decisively before they have fully realized their potential. The strategy is similar to the one used to sign Sergio Aguero.
