[Saba Sports News] Anthony Davis broke his silence Monday after being traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks.
In a social media post, Davis bid farewell to Lakers fans, reflecting on his six-year stint in L.A. and acknowledging the business side of the game. He expressed gratitude for his time with the franchise, highlighting the 2020 championship as a defining moment.
“Six years ago, I came here with the vision to win a Championship, and I will never forget the moment we did!” Davis wrote. “The business of basketball is a business just like all other businesses… I am grateful to the city where my first ring came from, grew my family and friendships, and I will always have a home here.”
He also thanked his teammates, emphasizing that their friendships go beyond just basketball, and assured fans that L.A. would always hold a special place in his heart.
Davis referred to his move to Dallas as an “exciting next chapter.” While his trade has been somewhat overshadowed by Luka Doncic’s blockbuster move to the Lakers, Davis remains a major acquisition for the Mavericks. He and Doncic share a similar situation, both being star players blindsided by their trades.
Before the trade, Davis was averaging 25.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game for the Lakers. The Mavericks are counting on him to maintain that level of production while bolstering their defense.
Davis also took to social media to reveal his new jersey number with Dallas, signaling his readiness for this new chapter in his career.
