[Saba Sports News] According to Italian media, Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, who was previously named by Italian prosecutors in connection with a match-fixing case, is not expected to face any new sports sanctions. It is reported that Newcastle has been assured that the investigation is related to the original case that led to Tonali’s 10-month ban, but he will not face further sanctions. Recently, in an investigation by the Milan prosecutor’s office, several Serie A players have been investigated for playing poker and betting on sports events on an illegal gambling platform. The Milan prosecutor’s office announced in a statement that five people who organized and managed a secret platform in a jewelry store in the city have been detained on charges of “illegal gambling and money laundering.” According to these agencies, these football players are not among those arrested. If convicted, they will only face minor penalties in criminal cases, likely fines, and they may also face sanctions from the Italian Football Association. Tonali was banned for 10 months in October 2023 for match-fixing, including games for his former team, Milan. Both Tonali and Faggioli have admitted to being addicted to gambling and have sought treatment.
