[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, former England defender Mark Wright recently auctioned off his cherished collection of 1990 World Cup jerseys for a six-figure sum. The player, who represented the Three Lions 45 times, exchanged jerseys with several opponents during England’s run to the semi-finals that year. This valuable collection includes jerseys from Andy Townsend, Klaus Augenthaler, Giuseppe Giannini, Johannes Van Techip, Saber Eid, Marc van der Linden, and Emmanuel Kund, as well as the FA Cup Final jersey Mark Wright wore in 1992 while playing for Liverpool, and six England team caps. The entire collection was sold for over £100,000 by a British private collector at an auction at Wembley Stadium last week. Mark Wright recalls, “The most precious one is Townsend’s jersey; we are old friends. I don’t remember most of the jersey exchanges, but the West Germany one is particularly memorable because we lost the semi-final. To be honest, I didn’t really want to swap jerseys after losing the semi-final.”
