[Saba Sports News] Minnesota Timberwolves forward Anthony Edwards had a fiery exchange with LeBron James during Game 4 of their first-round playoff series, and afterward, he explained the motivation behind it.
Late in the first half at Target Center in Minneapolis, Edwards got in James’ face and gave him a light shove—an intense moment that drew attention, especially since the Timberwolves were trailing at the time.
Speaking after the game, Edwards clarified that it wasn’t about disrespect or trash talk. Instead, it was a statement of intent for his team.
“I wouldn’t say I was trying to make a point, but just letting him know we’re here. You ain’t just gonna push us around all night,” Edwards said. “I’m not gonna lie, he’s strong… but I’m gonna be a pest to him whenever I get on him. Try to get up under his skin.”
The message seemed to land. The Timberwolves rallied to win 116-113 in a tightly contested—and controversial—finish, taking a 3-1 series lead. Edwards led the charge with a dominant 43-point, 9-rebound performance, proving that his words—and actions—weren’t just for show.
