[Saba Sports News] According to Portuguese media reports, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has made a final ruling in favor of Inter in the dispute over Joao Mario’s transfer. Joao Mario was transferred to Inter in 2016 for €44.8 million, with Sporting CP claiming that there were additional clauses in the transfer agreement stating that if the player returned to the Portuguese league, Sporting CP would have preferential purchase rights. In June 2021, Inter and JoAo MArio terminated their contract, allowing him to join Benfica as a free agent. This caused dissatisfaction from Sporting CP, who filed a complaint with FIFA in July 2023 demanding compensation of €30 million. FIFA dismissed the complaint in October 2023, after which Sporting cp appealed in September 2023. On May 2025, the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled in favor of Inter, confirming that Inter do not need to compensate Sporting CP, and that the latter cannot further appeal to the sports arbitration body. It seems the dispute between Inter and Sporting CP has finally come to an end.
