[Saba Sports News] One of the final holdovers from the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2021 championship squad may soon be on his way out.
Veteran center Brook Lopez is expected to leave the Bucks this offseason, according to longtime NBA writer Matt Moore via Substack. Moore reports that “most everyone I’ve spoken to assume[s] Brook Lopez is gone,” adding that the 7-footer could be one of the more notable names available on the free-agent market.
Lopez, a former All-Star and two-time All-Defensive selection, has anchored Milwaukee’s defense and provided valuable floor spacing since joining the team in 2018. He’s one of just four players remaining from the Bucks’ title team—alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis, and Pat Connaughton.
Now 37 and heading into his 18th NBA season, Lopez still offers plenty of value. He’s remained impressively durable, playing in at least 78 games each of the last three years. This past season, he averaged 13.0 points per game while shooting an elite 51/37/83 split—remarkable efficiency for a big man with a low-usage role.
As an unrestricted free agent, Lopez is expected to draw strong interest, especially from teams looking for rim protection and shooting. One former team reportedly considered a reunion with Lopez as recently as last offseason—and with a continued need for size, they could be back in the mix again.
