[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, Paris Saint-Germain is considering signing Pedro Fernández through a regular transfer rather than paying his release clause, in order to reduce tax expenses. The transfer of the 18-year-old attacking midfielder has not yet reached a resolution, but he is very close to joining PSG, with reports suggesting that both parties have agreed to a four-and-a-half-year contract, although it has not yet been officially signed.
In Spain, the release clause is legal and must be paid by the player, although it is typically covered by the future club. However, it’s worth noting that this amount incurs taxes of up to 47%, which nearly doubles the total cost. Currently, negotiations over Fernández’s transfer are stuck on this specific issue. If the deal can be converted to a regular transfer, the player would not have to pay an additional tax of around €3 million to activate the release clause. However, this is contingent upon PSG reaching an agreement with Barcelona regarding the transfer. Barcelona is more inclined to accept offers higher than the €6 million release clause, which is indeed the key issue in the negotiations between the two clubs.
